Rubens Jungle continues the journeys of the little boy with the magical adventures. This time, he lands in a fantastic jungle full of colorful animal friends. The bilingual English-and-Spanish tale and fanciful illustrations engage the imaginations of young readers. The accompanying read-along CD introduces them to the rhythms and sounds of both languages, while helping them practice their pronunciation and learn the names of a zoo-full of animals.
Written as a way for the author and illustrator to keep Spanish alive and vibrant in their own childrens lives, Rubens Jungle is the second title in the award-winning series used in classrooms across the United States to teach Spanish to English-speakers, and offered as a resource by the National Head Start Association to teach English to Spanish speakers. The first Ruben’s book, Rubens Rainbow, was a Fall 2001 BookSense 76 Pick, winner of the Latino Literary Hall of Fame Award for Best Bilingual Childrens Book, and a finalist for the Benjamin Franklin Award.
